The Electoral Commission (EC) has confirmed that it will declare the results of the presidential election at exactly 4:30 PM today, having received results from 13 regions so far.
At a press conference held today, Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairperson of the EC, assured the public that the commission was working within the legally required timeframe to declare the results, as stipulated by C.I 127.
Tettey emphasized that the EC has 72 hours after the close of the polls to announce the official results, and the process is progressing according to the law.
His remarks came in response to growing concerns and complaints, particularly from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other citizens, about delays in the announcement of the presidential results.
Critics have described the situation as “feet dragging,” questioning the pace of the EC’s process.
However, Mrs. Jean Mensa, the EC Chairperson, addressed these concerns, reassuring the public that the commission was conducting a thorough and meticulous verification process.
She emphasized that the delay was to ensure the integrity of the results and reflect the true will of the people.
