Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the majority leader, has said the Electoral Commission (EC) should revoke illegally declared results.
Afenyo-Markin called on the EC’s chairperson, Jean Mensa, to intervene and address petitions submitted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, December 11 Afenyo-Markin stated, “The EC must take immediate steps to reverse these illegal declarations, which were not based on properly collated results”.
“The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission should respond positively to the petitions and ensure that the rule of law is upheld”, he added.
Afenyo-Markin claimed the NDC is engaged in things undermining Ghana’s democratic process by threatening NPP candidates and destroying the pink sheet.
“Why would the NDC, in an attempt to gain more seats, go around destroying the country, damaging public property, and instilling fear and panic in candidates and the public?” he questioned.
He further revealed that 16 hours after the elections the NPP showed the result they had collated was not in their favor they acted responsibly in the interest of Ghana’s democracy.
