The National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency, John Dumelo has declared victory ahead of the official declaration of the Electoral Commission (EC).
In a post on his Facebook page, John Dumelo indicated that regardless of having 13 more polling stations to go, he is confident he has won the seat.
He added that the party had made history with this win as it has now won the seat for the first time in 24 years.
“……with 13 polling stations to go,I can confidently say we have won the Ayawaso West Wuogon seat for the first time in 24 years. #idey4u” his post read.
With 13 polling stations left to go, John Dumelo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is leading the polls with 38,471 votes with the Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) polling 25,775.
The EC closed polls on Saturday, December, 2024 at 5pm.
Votes are now trickling in and from the numbers so far, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is leading currently.
Also, some big names in parliament, including ministers of state have lost their seats
As the day evolves, the polls will be consolidated and the final results declared latest by Monday.
