Deputy Communications Officer for the NDC, Maleek Basintale, has responded strongly to claims linking his party supporters to recent chaos at Tema Port.
Speaking in an interview on TV3, Basintale clarified that upon receiving reports of unrest, he quickly rushed to the scene on his bike.
‘’This morning I had a call that people were going to Tema port and so that’s why I was late. I had to ride my bike to see them. I got there and none of them is an NDC person’’.
However, he revealed that none of the individuals involved were from the NDC. Instead, he pointed to growing dissatisfaction within the current administration, citing young men frustrated with their leaders who are now speaking out against them on social media.
‘’There are people under this current administration who are angry with their leaders.
There are young men under this administration who are angry with their leaders and they’ve been writing on Facebook that our leaders were spending their money and this defeat serves us right and all of that’’.
He also dismissed claims that the NDC was responsible for looting activities, referring to a viral video posted by TV3, which showed arrests made during a raid at an Agenda 111 project in Awutu Senya West.
“All the people arrested in that video were from the NPP, not the NDC,”
Disgruntled NPP supporters are the ones behind the violence and lawlessness in some parts of the country. No one has been attacked by an NDC member – @malik_basintale #TV3GH #ElectionCommandCentre pic.twitter.com/tx8nyqyAQr
