Host of the Gumbe Show on TV XYZ, Oheneba Boamah Bennie claims the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo Dampare is secretly lobbying to be retained as IGP in the John Dramani Mahama administration.
IGP Damapre was appointed as the acting Inspector General of Police of the Ghana Police Service by President Nana Akufo-Addo on 21 July 2021 effective 1 August 2021.
During a live TV show, Oheneba Boamah Bennie revealed, “IGP Dampare is there trying to lobby to be kept as IGP. Champion, don’t worry you will not be retained as IGP.”
According to the journalist, policemen all over the nation are displeased with the work of IGP Dampare and will happy if he is removed as IGP
“His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, I beg of you let Dampre leave office quickly. He should be the first appointee to be removed from office. He should be removed from office early to make policemen happy.”
He described Dr. George Akufo Dampare as a “social media IGP” urging President-elect, John Dramani Mahama to task the National Bureau of Investigations (NIB) to undertake a nationwide investigation amongst police officers on whether Dampare should be retained as IGP.
“You (John Mahama) can use that to make a decision. Dampare is a social media IGP and the policemen don’t even want him in office.”
