Former parliamentary aspirant for Oforikrom constituency Henry Osei Akoto has stated before President Akufo-Addo came to power, no Ghanaian knew the government paid WAEC.
According to Henry Osei Akoto, the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government owes every single service provider.
Henry Osei Akoto wrote on X, “Before Akufo-Addo came to power, no Ghanaian knew the government pays WAEC. Nobody even cared about the subject because it was never an issue. Akufo-Addo’s government owed every single service provider, even the ones you never imagined. It’s crazy”.
Meanwhile, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has expressed dissatisfaction with the Akufo-Addo Bawumia government over the release of GH¢25 million cedis recently to offset part of the GH¢118 million debt owed to the Council.
According to WAEC, the funds are not enough to enable the release of the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results, which remain delayed due to the government’s indebtedness.
WAEC, in a statement some weeks ago, revealed they are awaiting the release of additional funds out of the outstanding balance of GHC 118,000,000.00 from the Ministry of Education.
