President-elect John Mahama has issued a stern warning, to those seeking positions in his upcoming government, urging individuals to be prepared for hard work and service to Ghanaians.
Mahama, who is gearing up for another term in office, emphasized that his administration will not be a “walk in the park” and that anyone who is not ready to serve with diligence, modesty, and humility should not seek a role.
Speaking openly about the challenges ahead, Mahama shared that he has been receiving numerous messages and visits from individuals seeking to be considered for various government positions.
He made it clear that while he welcomes dedication and commitment, the expectations are high.
“If you’re not prepared to work and serve the people of Ghana diligently, modestly, and with humility, then don’t come. Just stay,” Mahama asserted.
Drawing from the recent experience of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the election, Mahama stressed the importance of learning from others’ challenges.
“Just as our colleagues in the NPP might be feeling pain from their loss, it should serve as a lesson to those of us coming into government,” he noted.
“The same stick that they have been beaten with by the Ghanaian people is the same that we must be wary of.”
Reflecting on his own political journey, Mahama spoke of the divine guidance that he believes has led him to this moment.
From his early days as a Member of Parliament to his roles as Deputy Minister, Minister, Vice President, and eventually President, Mahama shared how, at every step, he has questioned whether this was the path he should continue on.
However, he feels that God’s hand has guided him throughout his political career.
“My political journey has been a divine one,” Mahama affirmed.
“I believe that it is God who has guided my steps each way until now. From being a member of parliament, to being a deputy minister, to being a minister, to being vice president, and to being president.
At each step, I have doubted whether it was the path I wanted to carry on, but God has gently continued to push me and show me the direction He wants me to go.”
President-elect John Mahama has issued a strong caution to many who have been knocking on his door and sending messages seeking to be considered for positions in his government.
