Ghanaian Journalist Bridget Otoo has urged the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) transition team to be transparent in all activities related to the transitioning of President Akufo-Addo out of office
She called on the NDC transition team to disclose all the rot in the Akufo-Addo government during the transition rather than cover up for the NPP government.
According to her, should the NDC transition team attempt to cover up for the NPP, they (NPP) will turn around to stab them in their backs.
In a post on X, she said, “I know how vengeful the NPP is, and with that in mind, I would urge the NDC transition team to be an open book!”
“Don’t go and swear to any code of secrecy. Expose everything for Ghanaians to see, if you don’t they will turn around and lie on you!”
The Electoral Commission of Ghana officially announced John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) as President-elect.
According to the Chairperson of the Commission, Madam Jane Mensah, results from 267 out of 276 constituencies show that Mahama secured 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the total valid votes cast.
His closest contender, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) garnered 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61% out of 11, 430, 531 vote casts
The announcement follows days of tension and anticipation as Ghanaians waited for the final verdict and after Dr. Bawumia conceded defeat. The total voter turnout was reported at 60.9%, with 11, 430, 531 valid votes cast out of the 18, 774, 159 registered voters.
