Professor Joshua Alabi, the campaign manager for John Dramani Mahama has boldly stated, that the Ashanti region can’t have a 98% turnout when the whole nation has 60%.
He noted that the low turnout in the 2024 elections in the Ashanti Region could be a result of the NDC vigilance.
According to him, the votes derived from the Ashanti Region are not real votes.
Speaking on TV3 Hot Issues, Prof. Joshua Alabi stated, “Some of us have always been saying that the votes we get from the Ashanti Region are not the real votes, there was a particular year where a deputy minister was made to be an agent they lifted him from the place and threw him away, and the results that came from that polling station was something else”.
“This time around we had a lot of such stories, and our duty was to make sure that we get those who are registered to vote, and once we get only those who are registered to vote, we were very vigilant on that”, he added.
Prof. Joshua Alabi further stated, “It is true there was a low turnout, but it can as a result of our vigilance and the fact that we made sure that we did not have people who were not registered voters to vote, or people putting ballots in their sleeves and finding ways of putting them in or at the end of the elections boxes will be used to change”.
“These are all things we sat down and analyzed, and we realize that if we are able to work on these things in Ashanti, we could get the percentage that we want. It is not possible for only Ashanti region to be having 98% turnout, that is not possible, when the whole nation was around maybe 60% so there must be a fundamental problem we were not looking at”, Prof. Alabi stated.
