Former England international, Michael Owen has named Antione Semenyo as the ideal candidate to replace Mohammed Salah at Liverpool.
Mohammed Salah is on his way out of Liverpool as he is left with months on his current contract which expires on June 2025.
With the club yet to reach an agreement with the Egyptian for a contract extension, Michael Owen has identified the Ghanaian as a player who can fit in well and replace Salah.
“I don’t think Mo Salah will leave this season, but in the event he leaves, I would be surprised if Liverpool don’t consider Semenyo as a replacement,” he stated.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher also named Semenyo as the key player in running to replace Salah if the egyptian does not sign a contract extension with the club.
He believes that £9m ($11.3m) Semenyo is worth keeping an eye on, especially given Richard Hughes’ connections to Bournemouth.
Jamie Carragher added that Liverpool has a model of signing players who are a bit under the radar but have the potential to become superstars, citing Semenyo as that player.
