Ghanaian Kumawood actor Clement Bonney, popularly known as Mr. Beautiful, has called his colleague actor Agya Koo an enemy, a villager, and an ungrateful person for lying about President-elect John Mahama, despite Mahama having taken care of some of Agya Koo’s needs in the past.
Mr. Beautiful accused Agya Koo of trying to unjustifiably cause disaffection for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) and Mahama ahead of the December 7 election.
He reminded the public of the immense support Agya Koo had received from the Mahama administration, including being taken on international trips, and stated that it was unthinkable for Agya Koo to show such ingratitude.
Speaking at the campaign launch of Deputy Minister of Education Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa in Mepe, North Tongu constituency in the Volta Region,
Mr. Beautiful dismissed Agya Koo’s claims that his career had dipped due to the economic hardships caused by the Mahama-led government. Agya Koo, who is campaigning for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its flagbearer,
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, had stated that for the past five years, no producer had featured him in a movie because of the economic difficulties under Mahama’s administration.
Mr. Beautiful refuted Agya Koo’s accusations, emphasizing that the Mahama administration had been the first to allocate significant funding for the entertainment industry.
He pointed out that Mahama had made it a priority to make the Ghanaian movie industry as successful as those in South Africa, Nigeria, and the United States.
Mr. Beautiful highlighted that under Mahama’s leadership, over 70% of Ghanaian actors, including Agya Koo, had been sent abroad for international movie festivals.
He also mentioned how Agya Koo had been taken to countries like China and Malaysia for events sponsored by the Mahama government.
