Member of Parliament (MP) for the Subin Constituency, Eugene Boakye Antwi, says close to six (6) million electorates refused to vote in the December 7, 2024 general elections.
According to him, this level of voter apathy can be blamed on the actions and inactions of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
In a post of Facebook, he said, “Almost a third of Registered Voters (6 million voters) did not visit their Polling Stations to vote due to APATHY.”
In total 18 million registered voters were registered to decide the nation’s next president and the structure of the 275-member Parliament.
The EC closed polls on Saturday, December, 2024 at 5pm.
Votes are now trickling in and from the numbers so far, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is leading currently.
Also, some big names in parliament, including ministers of state have lost their seats
As the day evolves, the polls will be consolidated and the final results declared latest by Monday.
