The 2024 parliamentary elections have seen major defeats for some New Patriotic Party (NPP) members of parliament, several prominent incumbent NPP MPs lost their seats to the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The National Democratic Congress has also won a two-thirds majority in parliament.
But today we look at some new Celebrities and members of parliament going to parliament to form the Ninth Parliament on the eve of January 7th.
From the 2024 parliamentary results declared so far, there will be five new celebrities joining Ablah Dzifa Gomashie a veteran actress, producer, and screen scriptwriter in parliament from January 7, 2025, to January 6, 2029.

- Kwame A Plus – Elected Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central
Kwame Asare Obeng commonly known as A-Plus has won the Gomoa East parliamentary seat after contesting as an Independent Parliamentary Candidate.
The musician now politician A Plus secured 14,277 votes, while his main opponent Eyiah Naana secured 11,637 votes.
- John Dumelo – Elected Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon
John Dumelo, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate Ayawaso West Wuogon won the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat.
According to the official result of the EC, John Dumelo secured 40,561 votes while incumbent Lydia Alhassan secured 27,377 votes.
In an X post, the actor John Dumelo just stated, “Never give up”.
- Baba Sadiq – Elected Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central
Baba Sadiq, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Okaikwei Central defeated the incumbent, Patrick Yaw Boamah, in a highly contested parliamentary race in the 2024 general elections.
The founder of 3 Music Awards Baba Sadiq secured 15,383 votes, while Patrick Boamah, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), secured 14,949 votes.
Meanwhile, Patrick Yaw Boamah has declared to challenge Baba Sadiq’s win in Court.
- Ohene Kwame Frimpong – Elected Member of Parliament for Asante Akyem North
Ohene Kwame Frimpong, who ran as an independent candidate defeated the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Asante Akim North, Andy Appiah-Kubi.
Chief Executive Officer, Salt Media Group Mr. Frimpong won decisively with 26,926 votes, while Mr Appiah-Kubi got 8,933 votes.
- Ebi Bright – Elected Member of Parliament for Tema Central
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ebi Bright emerged victorious in the Tema Central Parliamentary election, beating Charles Forson of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The Ghanaian Actress Ebi Bright garnered 18,539 votes, while Forson garnered 18,421 votes.
