Travelers making their way to their constituencies to cast their ballots, have been left stranded due to bus shortages and long security checks just 24 hours before the December 7 polls. This, coupled with the holiday, has led to overcrowded bus terminals nationwide, with some locations facing even worse conditions.
In the Western Region, the Takoradi GPRTU Station has seen angry travelers venting their frustration over what they perceive as unfair treatment. Some travelers, who arrived at the station as early as 5 a.m., are still yet to board a bus.
Most of the buses at the station had been hired by Members of Parliament and political actors to transport their supporters to various destinations for the elections.
This situation led to a frantic rush for the few remaining vehicles, causing chaos and tension among stranded passengers.
A similar scene unfolded in Tamale earlier this morning, where political actors rented most of the buses at the terminals to transport voters to their respective areas, leaving only a few vehicles available for the general public.
This led to significant inconvenience, with some scuffles breaking out as passengers scrambled to secure a ride.
