Over 130,000 persons are expected to participate in today’s special voting at 328 voting centers in 14 regions of the country.
The Special Voting is for security personnel, including the Ghana Armed Forces, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), National Security, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service.
Information Services Department, members of the National Ambulance Service, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Prisons Service ,journalists and persons who will be on duty at different places on Election Day December 7 .
Speaking at a press conference here in Accra Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Mrs. Jean Adukwei Mensah said the commission has put in place all arrangement to ensure a credible and transparent election and urged all who are partaking in the special voting to endeavour to do so.
She added that The Electoral Commission, ballots from the special voting will not be counted until the general election is conducted on December 7.
Meanwhile The Electoral Commission has ordered a recall and reprinting of ballot papers for the Eastern and Western Regions after a leakage was detected with the initial ballot papers.
According to the Commission, this has become necessary after it was informed by National Security that a single defaced paper was taken out of Checkpoint Printing Limited Printing House.
As a result, the Commission has postponed special voting in eastern and western regions to Thursday, December 5, before the general election on Saturday, December 7.
