A trader at the Flower Pot Interchange is speaking out following her removal from the newly inaugurated site, claiming that she and other vendors were promised a designated space under the bridge to continue their businesses.

“We’ve been here for 25 years, no president ever removed us—only Nana Addo,” said the vendor, who shared her frustration with the sudden eviction after the interchange’s opening.

The Flower Pot Interchange, which was completed to ease traffic flow in the region, has sparked controversy after vendors were asked to leave the area just a day after its launch.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, led the swift action on November 20, citing the need to preserve the appearance and functionality of the interchange.

However, many hawkers, like this trader, say they were assured that they would be given designated spaces once the project was completed.

“We were promised a place to sell,” she continued. “I even took out a loan to invest in my business, believing the promise would be honored.”
