The Electoral Commission (EC) has confirmed that it has not yet received the official court ruling lifting the injunction on NDC’s parliamentary candidate for the Amenfi Central constituency, Joana Cudjoe, despite reports that the Sekondi High Court has cleared her to contest the December elections.

Dr. Bosman Asari, the EC’s Deputy Chair in charge of Corporate Services, told TV3 that the Commission is waiting for formal notification of the court’s decision before taking steps to include her name on the ballot.

The EC emphasized that it remains a law-abiding institution and will comply with any court ruling once it has been officially served.
“We are a law-abiding organization, and once we receive the court’s judgment, we will take the necessary action,” Dr. Asari said.

This comes after the High Court lifted the injunction on Joana Cudjoe, which had earlier disqualified her from contesting.
NDC’s Dr. Rashid Tanko, the party’s Deputy Director of IT and Elections, has strongly disputed the EC’s stance.

He claimed that the court’s ruling was shared with Dr. Asari and other EC officials on the same day, and he has provided evidence to support his claim.

According to Tanko, the EC acknowledged receipt of the court ruling, and the Commission is now set to print new ballots that will include Joana Cudjoe’s name.
