French Ligue 1’s Auxerre and Ghana’s defender Gideon Mensah has said despite the withdrawal of the eight players from the team that was called, every player is dedicated and committed to seeing great results for the country.
After Coach Otto Addo announced his 25 man squad to face Angola and Niger, it was reported that eight players due to injury have withdrawn from the team. Even though some players have earned an emergency call up to replace the withdrawn players, it has thrown doubts on the minds of Ghanaians.
Speaking to the media after the team’s first training in Accra, the defender shared that, each player that receives a call is very crucial to the team. He also added that but in the case where a called up player is nor available there is always someone ready to cover up and that clearly tells how dedicated the players are to bring glory to the team.
The black stars will be playing their first of the last two qualifiers with Angola a day after Sudan plays whose results determines how far the Ghanaian team can go in the qualifiers.
Responding to what the motivation is going into the last two games, Gideon Mensah shared that, as players they are built for such moments and that’s the best motivation. He added that the game of football is not always rosy but that does not stop the team from giving their all.
