The Ghana Armed Forces is presently conducting a security sweep at the Accra Conference Center as parliament reconvenes today.
The military K9 unit were scene on scene doing a bomb and explosive sniffing sweep, as well as undertaking weapons check to insure no injury befalls parliamentarians.
This is the second time the military is conducting security sweeps at the Accra Conference Center which has become a makeshift venue for parliamentary sessions as the Parliament House is undergoing some renovations.
The Speaker of Parliament put forth a request to the military to conduct these sweeps ahead of parliamentary sittings.
This will be the first meeting after Speaker Bagbin suspended parliament indefinitely following the ruckus between MPs in the New Patriotic Party and the National Democratic Congress, following the Speaker’s decision to declare 4 seats vacant.
