The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has paid his last respects to his beloved son, Oheneba Adusei Poku the Akyempimhene.
In a somber ceremony on Monday, November 18, 2024, which showed the rich Ashanti tradition and culture, the Asantehene arrived at the Adum Palace of Nana Adusei, where his body was laid in state.
The Asantehene was decorated in his ‘Atinka Ntoma,’ indicating his pain at losing a royal and close confidant, and performed his final ritual by dancing to the rhythms from the ‘fontonfrom’ drums.
Oheneba Adusei Poku the Akyempimhene was the eldest son of the 15th Asantehene, Otumfuo Opoku Ware II. He was the only male child born among five children.
President Akufo Addo, Nana Kwame Bediako, Ex-President John Agyekum Kuffour, Dr. Bawumia, and many others were spotted at the funeral.
