Traditional leaders of the Wassa Amenfi community have reverse a curse placed on the Electoral Commission by the Wassa Amenfi Central National Democratic Congress (NDC).

This unprecedented ritual, aimed at appeasing the gods and restoring peace, comes in response to the disqualification of the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, an issue that has deeply divided the region.

The curse, invoked last Tuesday by the Wassa Amenfi Central NDC, targeted the Electoral Commission and those believed to be responsible for the disqualification of Cudjoe.
This bold move has sparked controversy and prompted swift action from the traditional council, who are determined to resolve the matter in accordance with their customs and beliefs.
In a significant show of resolve, the Wassa Amenfi Traditional Council carried out a powerful ritual aimed at nullifying the curse and restoring balance within the community.
Speaking to the media after the ritual, a spokesperson for the elders outlined their intentions: “We will not wait for the effects of the curse to manifest before we take action. Our goal is to appease the deities and ensure peace within our community.”

The traditional leaders emphasized the seriousness of the curse and the potential harm it could cause if left unresolved.
They vowed to confront those responsible, adding that their response would involve both spiritual rituals and political dialogue. “After appeasing the deities, we will confront those responsible for the curse,” the spokesperson explained, highlighting their commitment to a peaceful resolution.

The disqualification of Joana Gyan Cudjoe, seen as a significant blow to the NDC’s prospects in Wassa Amenfi, has created a tense political atmosphere in the region.
The curse, though symbolic, has added fuel to the fire, increasing tensions between the NDC and traditional authorities. The move by the traditional leaders is now seen as an attempt to de-escalate the situation and restore order before the matter spirals further.

As the 2024 elections approach, the situation in Wassa Amenfi could become a key flashpoint in the region’s political landscape, with the NDC and the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) both eager to gain the support of the electorate.
The outcome of the traditional leaders’ intervention will be closely watched, as it may influence both the political dynamics and the spiritual beliefs that shape the community’s identity.

For now, Wassa Amenfi awaits the resolution of this extraordinary situation, with the elders’ ritual marking a powerful step toward peace in the face of mounting tensions.
