The Wasa Amenfi Traditional Council has banned the National Democratic Congress (NDC) from campaigning in the Wasa Amenfi Central Constituency following a curse placed on the Electoral Commission by the party.

The curse, which was invoked last Tuesday by the NDC in response to the disqualification of their parliamentary candidate, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has sparked significant controversy and divided the region.

The NDC’s move to invoke a spiritual curse against the Electoral Commission and those believed to be responsible for Cudjoe’s disqualification led to swift action from the traditional council.

In an effort to restore peace and balance, the council performed a powerful ritual aimed at nullifying the curse.

A spokesperson for the council, Nana Kwadwo Bogya III (Anakom Hene) speaking to the media after the ritual, stressed the seriousness of the situation: “We will not wait for the curse to take effect. Our priority is to appease the deities and restore harmony to the community.”

The council made it clear that any further political activities by the NDC in the area would be prohibited until the matter was resolved.

Ahyia Agyemang (Manso Amenfi Hene), along with other traditional leaders, emphasized their commitment to both spiritual rituals and political dialogue.

“After appeasing the gods, we will confront those responsible for the curse,” said a council representative.

The leaders highlighted that their approach would balance both spiritual measures and efforts to address the political conflict peacefully.
