Koku Anyidoho, a former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and now Chief Executive Officer of the Atta Mills Institute has stated Volta region needed roads, not an airport.
According to him as a Voltarian and deputy General secretary of NDC at the time, he was never enthused about John Mahama’s Airport Project for the region because it was obvious that it would not serve any viable purpose.
Speaking in a Self-recorded video close to the site of the Ho Airport he stated, “This is the Ho Airport which was constructed by President John Dramani Mahama I am just doing a simple comparison if you google, you will find that when the sod was being cut for this Airport a very prominent chief from the volta region. I don’t want to mention his name for obvious reasons he said that he hoped that this thing would not become a white elephant, he is a prominent Chief, and he is in the Aviation industry and even his flights or planes cannot come to Ho because it is not commercially viable”.
“This is what John Mahama has done it is left in the forest here in the bushes to rot, go and compare it to Prempeh the II International Airport in Kumasi, so when we talk about strongholds of the NPP and the NDC go and see what has been done in the stronghold of the NPP in Kumasi and this is what John Mahama has left in the stronghold of the NDC” he added.
Koku Anyidoho added, “It is not commercially viable, and they say we should not say it, we needed roads not this Airport, here we are twelve years down the line it is not functioning”.
