A political Marketing Expert and Senior lecturer at the University of Ghana, Professor Kobby Mensah has described the long stay of the NPP in the Ashanti Region this year campaigning as a result of the struggles that stares in the face of the Party.
In an interview with Neat F.M, Prof. Kobby Mensah shared that, every political party in Ghana has its stronghold that it relies solely on for victory in every election. He mapped the NDC’s strong hold to the Volta Region and the NPP’s own to the Ashanti Region. He however said, it has never happened that a political party will spend up to 15 days campaigning in its own stronghold.
According to him, the 2016 and 2020 elections brought out the cracks the various political parties’ stronghold, citing the number of votes the NPP has managed to canvas from the Volta Region and the NDC has also canvased from the Ashanti Region. He said, the long stay of the NPP this year in Ashanti Region is due to how struggling they are in the region and the fear of voter apathy that looms within the region.
He further shared that, there has been a high talks about voting Apathy in the Ashanti Region and the NPP is losing grounds within their own strong hold. He also mentioned that, reports have shown that, the Ashanti Region is at war with the Party for neglecting them when they came into power in terms of development.
