Sunyani Forest Service under the Forestry Commission in the Sunyani Municipal District in the Bono Region has issued a strong warning against illegal cutting down of trees in the district.
According to Francis Brobbey, the District Manager for the Sunyani Forest Service, a stern warning has been issued to everyone, including government officials, who enter forest reserves to cut down trees without proper permits.
He stressed the importance of caution, stating that the law will take its course against anyone caught violating these regulations.
Brobbey revealed that the Forest Service will intensify efforts by collaborating closely with the police, conducting day and night operations within the forest reserves.
This initiative aims to curb illegal logging and target individuals who are unlawfully removing timber without licenses.
The announcement was made during a preventive measures meeting with Forestry Commission officials in Sunyani.
Additionally, Forest Guards, tasked with safeguarding the reserves, cautioned the public against indiscriminate tree felling.
They warned that anyone caught cutting trees without permits or licenses would face legal consequences.
The Forest Service has vowed to enhance vigilance and tighten security in a bid to apprehend those engaging in illegal activities within the forest reserves.
