The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has instructed its members to stay home and relax starting Thursday, November 7, 2024, as they begin a nationwide strike.

The industrial action is in response to what they describe as the government’s deliberate attempt to frustrate their members by failing to finalize a new salary structure.

CLOGSAG had previously warned of the potential strike, following the government’s failure to meet an October 31 deadline set for the completion of the new salary structure.

The association’s frustration stems from the government’s failure to implement the agreed-upon salary adjustments, despite signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) over a year ago.

In a statement released on November 4, CLOGSAG’s Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe Addo, indicated that the proposed implementation date of January 1, 2025, was now deemed unrealistic.

He further announced that the association would no longer engage with the CEO of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), Benjamin Arthur, accusing the Commission of acting in bad faith during negotiations.
