The Electoral Commission (EC) has reaffirmed its preparedness to conduct the special voting exercise on Monday, December 2, 2024.
Chairperson Jean Mensa assured the public that the commission is fully equipped and ready for a peaceful, transparent, and fair process.
Speaking at a press conference this evening, at the EC’s headquarters Madam Mensa emphasized that all necessary materials, including ballot papers, indelible ink, biometric machines, and required forms, are in place. “We are confident that the special voting will proceed smoothly, with all officials ready for the exercise,” she stated.
The special voting exercise, she noted, is a crucial test for the EC ahead of the general elections.
She also highlighted that the Commission has published the special voters’ list on its website, allowing voters to verify their polling centers.
To ensure the successful conduct of the election, nearly 210,000 temporary staff, including presiding officers and polling assistants, have been recruited and are undergoing intensive training. Additionally, instructional videos will be made available to further support the training process.
“We are committed to ensuring a credible and seamless voting experience for all,” Jean Mensa added.
