The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has strongly criticized the Supreme Court’s verdict on parliamentary vacant seats, arguing that the ruling lacks jurisdiction.

According to the outspoken MP, the matter should have been heard by the High Court rather than the Supreme Court.

He called on the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin to disregard the ruling entirely, stating, “The Speaker shouldn’t waste his time on this court ruling. He should trash it in the dustbin.”

The Supreme Court’s decision, which has stirred political debate, addresses the issue of parliamentary seats declared vacant under contentious circumstances. Sam George’s remarks reflect growing concerns among some legislators about judicial overreach in parliamentary affairs.

The Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin is yet to respond to these comments or indicate how the ruling will be addressed in the House.
