The team in a video revealed they purchased the vehicles from dealers in Accra after conducting due diligence, including Carfax verifications, and Ghana customs which revealed the car was clean at the time.

They further stated they have used the car for two years and it was reported stolen to Interpol in 2024 two years after their purchase, they added their passport has been confiscated while investigations are conducted to determine their innocence.

The vehicles have since been handed over to security officials in the Republic of Congo, and investigations are underway in collaboration with authorities in Ghana and Canada.

A third vehicle, a Ford F150 Raptor, has been shipped back to Ghana from Pointe-Noir. Wanderlust Ghana has pledged full cooperation with investigations and plans to take legal action against the sellers.

Wanderlust Ghana Expedition Club has indicated they are collaborating with U.S. and Canadian diplomatic missions to commence an awareness campaign aimed at curbing the sale of stolen vehicles in Ghana and educating buyers on safeguarding themselves.

Meanwhile, despite the setback, the voyage covered a remarkable 28,811 kilometers across 28 countries, advancing Ghana’s tourism and receiving support from Ghanaian missions and communities along the way.

Wanderlust Ghana Expedition Club are now working to replace their vehicles to resume their future expeditions.
