Revealed – Speaker Bagbin could be jailed for 10 years if he disregards Supreme Court verdict

Justice William Atuguba, a retired Supreme Court Judge, has revealed that the Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin could be jailed for 10 years if he disregards the Supreme Court Verdict.

According to the former Supreme Court Judge, Alban Bagbin is bound by the decision of the Supreme Court and will suffer a term of imprisonment not exceeding 10 years.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with JOYNEWS he revealed, “In the face of this decision, he is bound by the decision of the Supreme Court. It is not necessarily 10 years; you must just suffer a term of imprisonment not exceeding 10 years”.

“Not only that, 10 years disqualification of holding public office, and if you are a president, you are liable to removal,” he reiterated.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, overturned Speaker Bagbin’s declaration on the four vacant seats in parliament by a 5-2 majority decision.
