Release report on 2015 Central Medical Stores fire investigations – ASEPA to EOCO

The Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA) is calling for immediate action concerning investigations into the 2015 fire at the Central Medical Stores (CMS) in Tema.

The fire resulted in the destruction of medical supplies valued at over GH¢273 million, raising serious concerns about drug shortages across Ghana.

At a press conference today, The Executive Director of the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability (ASEPA), Mensah Thompson demands that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) promptly release its comprehensive report on the CMS fire investigations.

ASEPA intends to file a Right to Information (RTI) request to facilitate this release and also called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Mr. Caleb Romeo Kofi Tetteh, former Head of the Central Medical Stores and current Acting Head of Procurement at the Ministry of Health, as well as his eleven alleged accomplices.

A petition will be submitted to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to initiate legal proceedings against those indicted.
