Preliminary reports indicate that the incident was linked to the execution of a court order, where police officers, along with a court bailiff and representatives from Vodacom Business (Ghana) Limited, arrived to enforce a judgment against Metro TV.

The situation escalated when armed men, reportedly including police officers, attempted to force their way into the Metro TV studio during a live broadcast of Good Morning Ghana.

Host Ransford Annetey Abbey (Randy Abbey), Kwesi Pratt Jnr, the managing editor of Insight Newspaper, and another panelist narrowly escaped the attack.

One of the security guards was injured as the attackers tried to breach the studio.
The disturbance caused an immediate disruption to the broadcast, prompting the show to cut to an abrupt break.

Viewers could still hear the commotion unfolding in the background as Randy Abbey, the show’s host, explained the situation live on air.

Abbey shared, “You realized that we had an abrupt break, we actually took a break, maybe you can still hear some noise out there, and it has to do with some armed men, armed policemen, and other persons who were trying to forcibly enter the studio here.”

The Ghana Police Service has urged the public, particularly Metro TV management and staff, to remain calm and cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation.
