The Ghana Police Service has taken a giant step against the increasing toy gun trend by arresting 26 people.
It was reported that the police has earlier made a swoop at Adum Pz in the Ashanti Region where about 10 suspects were arrested for toy gun brandishing. The earlier arrest did not deter the rest from shunning , leading to its spread across the country.
In a new development, the Police Service has made an arrest of 26 suspects who will be arraigned before court and help.eith further investigations.
In a Police statement, it stated that The Ghana Police Service has arrested 26 persons for brandishing and indiscriminate firing of toy guns in a public place.
According to the statement, the suspects are currently assisting with investigations and will be put before court to face justice. Meanwhile, a quantity of toy guns have been retrieved from these suspects as part of Police investigation into the menace.
The Police special operations as per the statement are currently underway to arrest others involved in this act which is becoming a trend in some parts of the country.
The Police Service has further cautioned the youth to desist from this act as it constitutes the offence of offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace contrary to section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) amongst others.
