The Coalition of Affected Savings and Loans Customers (CASLOC), representing the depositors of collapsed financial institutions, has issued a strong warning to the government ahead of the December 7th elections.

Over 500,000 members of the group, who are yet to receive their locked-up funds, threaten to vote against the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) if their payments are not processed.

CASLOC represents customers of 23 Savings and Loans companies, 347 Microfinance firms, and 39 Microcredit institutions whose licenses were revoked by the Bank of Ghana in 2019.

While over 2 million affected customers received payments in 2019 and 2020, more than 500,000 are still waiting for their funds.

Despite claims from government officials, including President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, that all affected customers have been paid, CASLOC has confirmed that many remain unpaid.

The group has now issued a one-week ultimatum for the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Ghana to release the necessary funds to settle the outstanding payments.

Failure to act on their demands will lead the frustrated customers to vote against the government in the upcoming elections.
