Leader of the New Patriotic Party (Caucus) in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has disclosed the party is undergoing undue pressure and suffering under the leadership of Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin.

According to Afenyo-Markin, this torture has gone on for far too long, and the NPP will not tolerate it any further.

Addressing the press, Afenyo Markin said, “We have gone through too much hell at the hands of Mr. Speaker (Alban Bagbin). We just don’t talk about it. We’ve managed the situation for far too long.”

He called on Speaker Alban Bagbin to ensure the 8th parliament is ended on a good note.

Afenyo-Markin made this plea after the Supreme Court announced it would deliver its judgment on the controversial matter of the vacant seats on Tuesday, November 12.

The case has triggered significant political tension, with both the Majority and Minority caucuses deeply divided over the issue.

The dispute centres on Speaker Alban Bagbin’s declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant. Bagbin made this move because the four Members of Parliament (MPs) in question – Kwadjo Asante (Suhum), Cynthia Morrison (Agona West), Andrew Asiamah (Fomena) and Peter Kwakye Ackah (Amenfi Central) – had violated constitutional requirements, thus justifying their removal from office.
