Peter Kwakye-Ackah the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central has abandoned his plans to contest as an independent candidate in the 2024 polls.
According to him, in a statement, he detailed that his decision aligns with the Sekondi High Court’s clearance of NDC’s parliamentary candidate Joana Cudjoe to contest the election.
The incumbent MP also added that contesting as an independent candidate is no longer feasible with just 18 days left before the election.
Parts of his statement read. “I would like to thank the Elders of the party and other leading members of the party for their invaluable counsel that has led to this decision in the supreme interest of the party”.
Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced that Joana Gyan Cudjoe will be on the ballot for the 2024 parliamentary polls for the Amenfi Central Constituency, having originally disqualified her.
