Former trainees of the Nation Builders Corps (NABCO) program have expressed their anger and disappointment over the government’s failure to settle their outstanding arrears.
The group held a press conference on November 29, 2024, to voice their grievances.
The trainees, who contributed their skills and time to national service, accused the government of abandoning them with unfulfilled promises.
They revealed that despite multiple assurances from Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, their arrears remain unpaid, forcing many to struggle with basic needs such as rent, food, and healthcare.
Nana Berimah Asamoah, Patron of the group, criticized the government’s handling of the program, describing it as a “knee-jerk, vote-buying policy without any solid foundation.”
The group also threw their support behind proposals for a 24-hour economy and a National Apprenticeship Program.
They believe these initiatives could effectively tackle youth unemployment and create sustainable opportunities for the future.
