Manchester City has had two of its players nominated in the best male player category at the 2024 Fifa Best Awards.
The duo are the only players from the English Premier League to have received nominations.
The Manchester City duo is none other than Rodri and Erling Haaland.
Real Madrid and England midfielder Jude Bellingham is one of 11 nominees for the prize, which has a majority of nominees being players based in Spain. Bellingham is hoping to be the first English player to win the prize.
The only player outside Europe to have received a nomination is the 2023 winner, Lionel Messi.
The award will be decided by an equally weighted split between fans, current captains and coaches of all women’s and men’s national teams, and media representatives.
Pep Guardiola, Carlo Ancelotti, Xabi Alonso, Lionel Scaloni and Luis de la Fuente will compete for Coach of the Year.
Arsenal’s David Raya, Manchester City’s Ederson and Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez have been nominated for the goalkeeper of the year award.
Real Madrid’s Andriy Lunin, Paris St-Germain’s Gianluigi Donnarumma, AC Milan’s Mike Maignan and Athletic Bilbao’s Unai Simon make up the rest of the nominees.
