A recent poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics from October 28 to November 2, 2024, has revealed a significant shift in voter sentiment, with former President John Dramani Mahama (JDM) now holding a commanding lead among first-time voters.

Despite this demographic making up a smaller proportion of the new voter register, Mahama is seen gaining substantial traction in the run-up to the December elections.

The survey shows that Mahama leads with 64% support among first-time voters, compared to just 33% for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB), the ruling party’s candidate.

This represents a notable shift, as Mahama continues to build momentum just weeks before the election.

The poll also highlights a concerning trend for Nana Kwame Bediako, a third-party candidate, who appears to be losing ground among this critical voter segment.

The data suggests that many first-time voters, who are crucial to the outcome of the election, are increasingly turning to Mahama, signaling potential changes in voting patterns as Election Day approaches.

Global InfoAnalytics is now speculating that Mahama’s growing popularity among first-time voters could play a decisive role in determining the overall outcome of the election, particularly given the small but significant size of this group in the updated voter register.

The new poll shows JDM taking a commanding lead among first-time voters although they represent a small proportion of voters in the new register.
