Former president and flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has called on Ghanaians to avoid repeating the “mistakes” of the 2016 and 2020 elections by not voting for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
In his address at a mini rally at the Nsawam Adoagyiri lorry station, Mahama called on Ghanaians to seize the opportunity to change the country’s struggling fortunes by voting for him and the NDC.
Kicking off his 5-day tour of the Eastern Region on Monday, November 18, the former president noted that many NPP supporters are dissatisfied with the party’s leadership and have lost interest in this year’s elections.
He urged them to instead vote for the NDC, signalling the need for a change in governance.
“In 2016 we made a wrong choice, in 2020 we repeated that choice but I know that on 7th December 2024, we are going to correct the mistake that we made and bring NDC back into government.”
“…At all times, everyone wants a good life and development. There are consequences to our choices:
if we vote well, there will be freedom and development; but if we don’t, there will be hardships.
So, December 7th is another opportunity to right the wrong by voting for the NDC,” he stated.
