A popular Ghanaian forex trader Kojo Forex has detailed that in a country like Ghana with stubborn citizens and thieves as politicians, the country needs a fierce president.
According to Kojo Forex, his problem is not Dr. Bawumia becoming the president of Ghana on December 7, his problem is that nobody in the NPP seems to fear Bawumia which gives room for extreme corruption in the country.
Kojo Forex’s full post on X reads, “My problem is not Bawumia even becoming the President. My problem is how nobody in his party seems to even fear him. That gives more room for extreme corruption. In a country like Ghana with stubborn citizens and thieves as politicians, we need a fierce President ‼️”
Ghana under President Akufo-Addo took a significant step towards the corruption fight by establishing the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) in 2018 and also adopting the Right to Information, which guarantees the constitutional right to information held by the Public institutions. However, despite these and other efforts, corruption continues to thrive in Ghana.
The 2024 Afrobarometer discoveries reveal a 77% increase in corruption perception in Ghana.
Ghana’s political terrain is characterized by political loyalty and family relations which are often rewarded with government contracts and positions through sole sourcing.
