The Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Rashid Tanko-Computer, has expressed surprise over the Electoral Commission’s (EC) claim that it has yet to receive the court ruling allowing Joana Cudjoe to contest in the December elections.

Despite the High Court lifting the injunction barring Cudjoe, the NDC’s candidate for the Amenfi Central constituency, from standing, the EC has insisted that it cannot include her name on the ballot until it receives an official copy of the judgment.

Dr. Tanko-Computer, however, dismissed this claim, stating that the ruling was officially served to the EC earlier in the day.

He added that he personally delivered copies of the court’s decision to Dr. Bosman Asari, the EC’s Deputy Chair for Corporate Services, and other officials, who acknowledged receipt of the documents.

“I’m surprised Dr. Bosman is saying this because I presented the ruling to him earlier today. He acknowledged receiving it and thanked me for sharing it,” .

Despite this discrepancy, Dr. Tanko-Computer assured that the EC will soon be moving forward with the necessary steps to include Cudjoe’s name on the ballot paper.

According to him, the EC had already begun preparations to print new ballot papers, which would now feature Cudjoe as the second candidate in the race.

The confusion over the ruling aside, the NDC remains confident that Joana Cudjoe will appear on the final ballot for Amethyst Central.

Dr. Tanko-Computer confirmed that the old ballot papers, which did not include Cudjoe, would be shredded and replaced with the updated ones that reflect the court’s decision.
