With the Ghana Police Service’s efforts to clamp down on election related violence and chaos, it has decided to involve the public to help them with information that relates to electoral breaches. The Informant reward system introduced by the Ghana Police Service will reward informants an amount ranging from GHC 1000 to GHC 20,000.

According to Dr. Dampare, the informant reward system will accept the electoral breaches information, operationalize it and when the results are good with heavy weight information, the Police will then reward the informant. He added that the system will come with its own weighing system and measurement. The measurement system will determine the amount of money the informant deserves.

He also mentioned that, this new development will help not only the Police service but also the security operatives in the country to minimize and clamp down eventually on election related chaos or breaches.

He also added that, the system has been made friendly for informants to directly walk to any police station or Office to relay the information. In the case of difficulties, the service will provide the public with a toll free number that the information can be relayed through.

Dr. Dampare made it clear that, the Police Service alongside the other security services are over prepared as the elections are concerned to counter any form of violence and breaches that may come. He mentioned that there are lots of vacancies in the police cells for individuals and groups who would dare any electoral breaches.
