The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has admitted praises cannot be showered on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for moving the dollar from 4 cedis to 12 cedis.
According to Kennedy Agyapong the former minster came to parliament and stated boldly they were not going to the IMF but at 2 pm they announced that they had gone to the IMF.
In a flashback video posted by TV3 Kennedy Agyapong speaking on the TV3 NewDay morning show stated, “I was drawing the attention of the former minister who was on the floor of the house by 12 o’clock saying that we were not going to IMF today, we were not going to IMF tomorrow, and 2 pm we announced that we had gone to the IMF”.
“And this same guy goes out to say that they don’t want somebody like Kennedy Agyapong, that is why I responded, so that does not mean I am saying that NPP is incompetent but I will admit, that moving from 4 cedis to 12 cedis you cannot shower praises on NPP, read my lips that is the gospel truth”, Kennedy Agyapong added categorically.
Meanwhile, today the cedi continues to experience varied depreciation levels under the current Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government with the cedi trading at GH¢17.00 to a dollar.
The recent depreciation of the Ghana cedi against the major foreign currencies is expected to continue due to subdued foreign exchange liquidity.
