President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has strongly rebutted former president John Dramani Mahama’s assertion that he lied his way into power. “I Didn’t Lie My Way into Power”.
Akufo-Addo dismissed Mahama’s statement, emphasizing that his remarks about the power crisis (dumsor) and the sluggish economic growth before the 2016 elections were based on facts, not falsehoods.
In a rally at Kumasi Bantama, Akufo-Addo defended his 2016 campaign narrative, stating, “I didn’t create dumsor, and I wasn’t in charge of the economy at the time. I merely revealed the truth about the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.”
He questioned Mahama’s claim, asking, “Was dumsor a lie? Was the sluggish economic growth a lie?”
He stated that if Mahama was looking for a way to deflect blame for his administration’s performance, he should look elsewhere.
“If he is trying to excuse himself from the failures of his government, he should find another way and leave me out of it,” the president added.
