Speaking to the media after the Supreme Court’s ruling on the four vacant seats in Parliament, Afenyo-Markin made a passionate appeal to journalists, emphasizing that he remains the Majority Leader of Parliament, not the leader of the NPP caucus.

He reiterated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) remains the majority party in the House, based on the legal provisions and the court’s ruling.

The Majority Leader expressed frustration over the portrayal of Parliament’s current situation, particularly after the court confirmed the NPP as the majority caucus. He urged media outlets to follow the law and report accurately, stressing that misinformation could create confusion and affect public perception of the parliamentary process.

Afenyo-Markin also took the opportunity to reaffirm that, despite internal challenges within the NPP  including ongoing issues with Speaker Alban Bagbin the party continues to hold the majority in Parliament.

In an emotional appeal, he urged the Speaker to engage in dialogue with both sides of Parliament to resolve the ongoing tensions. “We need to end the 8th Parliament on a positive note,”
