Deputy Transport Minister, Hassan Tampuli has urged the public to disregard the Concerned Drivers Association’s notice of a 15 per cent fare increase set for November 2.
According to him, fare adjustments depend on factors like fuel price stability, inflation, and other economic indicators, which he says are currently stable.
His comment comes on the back of an impending 15% increase in transport fares announced by the Concerned Drivers Association, Mr. David Agboado slated to begin on Saturday November 2 ,2024.
This 15% adjustment reflects the association’s assessment of rising operational costs for drivers and transport operators nationwide.
Mr. Agboado cited the high costs of maintaining and servicing vehicles as the primary reason for the fare hike.
He explained that prices of vehicle parts, servicing, and even basic vehicle supplies have drastically increased over the last year.
