Venessa Edotom Boateng, a broadcast Journalist, has expressed shock after coming across a post by a member of parliament of Adaklu constituency Kwame Governs Agbodza which quizzed why the flower pot project for GHC69.5m now projected to be completed for almost GHC1b.

According to the member of parliament the flower pot project was awarded in November 2016 at a cost of GH¢69,506,657.24 but the cost has inflated by about 1200%.

Kwame Governs Agbodza further detailed the project is now being completed close to GH¢1,000,000,000.

His full post reads, “President Akufo Addo and Dr Bawumia, Why is FLOWER POT project awarded in November 2016 at a cost of (GH¢69,506,657.24) to be completed in 24 months got a price INFLATION of about 1200%? . This project is now being completed close to ghs1,000,000,000. Yes , about ghs1BILLION”

Venessa Edotom Boateng expressing her shock wrote on X, God save us!!!! 1 BILLION GHANA CEDIS for a flyover? 1 BILLION? 1 BILLION GHANA CEDIS. ARH”.

Meanwhile, President Akufo Addo is set to commission the newly completed flyover at the Flowerpot junction on Spintex Road today 19th November.

The newly constructed flyover is expected to reduce congestion at the busy Flowerpot intersection for motorists commuting from areas including Cantonments and Burma Camp to East Legon, Spintex, and Tema, enhancing the overall quality of life for residents in these areas.

The project commenced on March 7, 2017, and was funded by Afrexim Bank and the Government of Ghana.
