The Black Satellites booked their place in the 2025 U-20 AFCON after losing out the final game of the WAFU Zone B finals to their fierce African Rivals, Nigeria. They secured an automatic qualification after they broke through the semi-final stage of the completion which ended last month in Togo.

After the recent achievement, Kurt Okraku urged the team to win their fifth AFCON title under Coach Desmond Ofei. The team last won the under-20 AFCON in 2021 in Mauritania with Abdul Karim Zito as the Head Coach.
