The Black Stars have seen themselves trailing poorly behind the likes of Angola, Sudan and Niger after only managing to pick three points from a six game qualification process. The team drew with Sudan at home, Angola away and Niger away allowing them to salvage only three out of a possible 18 points. Their failure to qualify has resulted in the Football Association being picked on by even international sports pundits.

After the team lost to Niger in their last home game, the F.A boss, took to his social media page to openly apologise for the performance of the team. He shared that, his heart bleeds at the failure of the team for not qualifying for the AFCON tournament. A tournament the Black Stars have a rich history with.
